We currently have a limited number of openings for artisans at the upcoming Homestead Market on August 12th, which is the second event of a two-part series. The market is located in a well-established area surrounded by Bear Mountain, and the ambiance is reminiscent of the renowned Filber Festival. Our goal is to expand the event and create a similar atmosphere over time. The center of Caleb Pike Heritage Park is a beautiful orchard surrounded by pathways that connect several buildings. Three of these buildings are considered heritage sites: the Caleb Pike House, made of squared logs and dating back to 1883, the Schoolhouse built in 1893, and the Teacherage. At the back of the park, visitors can find the caretaker's house, which is a replica of the Gregory home, a woodshed made of squared logs, and a museum. The park is the heart of the Highlands community's heritage values, and some of its buildings have been deemed significant enough to be listed on the Provincial and National Heritage Registers. The park will hosts a collection of skilled vendors who create handmade goods using traditional methods. The event will feature workshops and live music, with more details to come soon. for more info Click Here The expo features a variety of exhibitors, speakers that offer something for everyone. Kwench, its unique design lends itself to creating one of the most fluid creative shows that we've ever put on. A venue that is comfortable, warm, and inviting. We are gathering designers from the local fashion community to put on a very special post-Covid show.
The local fashion design scene has grown over the years. The most interesting thing about these new designers is they are not trying to copy or imitate other designers in the world. Instead, they are allowing the unique natural beauty of Vancouver Island to influence their material and design choice. Ticket info here Fashion Splash 2020 was an exceptional show in a unique location. The challenge for this show was creating a beautiful setting for a fashion show. This cold concrete building had been used in the past for ship repair. We turned it into something that would showcase some of Victoria's finest designers. With a great hair and makeup team led by Aaron Bradley for makeup and Mandy Rogers for hair.
Times have changed since 2014 when we could barely find designers for the show. Designers have grown their businesses and their clothing lines and have become much more successful and this continues to be supported by flashing splash. After a year off. Fashion Splash transformed into Victoria's 1st Fashion Week, held at the Atrium. It moved indoors into an amazing building, The excitement built as Victoria's beauty industry blossomed. The entrance to the Atrium ( an office building) was transformed into a show to remember. 15 local designers showed up to show off their creations to the hundreds of locals that came to see them. It was the talk of the town, as can be seen by the links below. Times Colonist Monday Magazine Chek News |
