West Coast way of thinking is evident in the clothes we create and the fashion trends that locals follow. Living in harmony with our environment is important to us, and being on the coast makes it easier, given the breathtaking beauty of the place. Fashion Splash began in 2014 at the Ship Point Pier in the Inner Harbour of Victoria, outdoors and on the water. Initially, there were only a handful of designers, but that has changed.
We believe that we are on the verge of making a name for ourselves on the world stage as some of the most unique and original designers out there. This show is all about providing designers with a platform and getting feedback on their designs, helping each one grow.
Fashion Splash 2020 was an exceptional show in a unique location. The challenge for this show was creating a beautiful setting for a fashion show. This cold concrete building had been used in the past for ship repair. We turned it into something that would showcase some of Victoria's finest designers. With a great hair and makeup team led by Aaron Bradley for makeup and Mandy Rogers for hair.
Times have changed since 2014 when we could barely find designers for the show. Designers have grown their businesses and their clothing lines and have become much more successful and this continues to be supported by flashing splash.
After a year off. Fashion Splash transformed into Victoria's 1st Fashion Week, held at the Atrium.
It moved indoors into an amazing building, The excitement built as Victoria's beauty industry blossomed.
The entrance to the Atrium ( an office building) was transformed into a show to remember.
15 local designers showed up to show off their creations to the hundreds of locals that came to see them. It was the talk of the town, as can be seen by the links below.
We had more designers come forward in 2015 as word got out that they had a platform to show their creations. The creative community pulled together in 2015 for the second fashion splash and helped Fashion Splash evolve into a designer's runway.
This event featured seventeen designers and some store owners from Lower Johnson St. The main attraction was the local design talent. Victoria loves supporting locals, and they came out in the hundreds to see the show. This would be the last show at the west end of the ship point pier. As funding had come to an end. Maybe is was time to try something new. Something Victoria had not seen before ?
