Sandra Froher

Her textile art is focused on eco-print dyeing using plants on natural fabrics like silk. Sandra uses botanical dyes derived from leaves, bark, stems, seeds, roots, and acorns. She connects with nature by walking, foraging, and gathering organic materials to begin her eco-pigment process. Her works feature plant material both indigenous and non- indigenous to each region from local nature walks to create a dialogue about the land and environment around us. She then makes a mordant using found rusted iron which intensifies the strains in the plant cells or tissue preparations.

Through a ritual of care and labour, Sandra bundles the organic materials tightly with string in the fabric before the layers are stacked and steamed over hot water for many hours. Sandra's one-of-a-kind wearable art are a slow cloth approach to textile art and harness environmentally sustainable colour from the local landscape. She sees each creation acting as a conduit of care, collaboration, and re-consideration between human-plant relations.

Mead Simon Chainmail Designs

Mead uses metal to create his clothing line. This is not the norm when it comes to fashion but Mead Simon is as unique as his art. When his creations are worn they come to life with each movement of the person wearing them. reflecting out one's personality.
As a fashion designer, he loves using these materials in a unique way. He doesn't see a lot of people using the scales in any other way, except facing down, so he is trying to show different uses for them. Looking forward to seeing his work on the runway

Susan Isaac Design

It took me decades to find my voice, especially as an artist. The peace and joy of proudly claiming my ‘style’ has been hard won and has made all the difference.
And now I use my talents in glass design to brighten a person’s unique style, celebrate themselves and give meaningful, heart-felt gifts to those they want to uplift.

Susan Romphf

Using silk fibre, I create a completely new fabric using a process called silk fusion. The fibres bond tightly together resulting in a fabric that is one of a kind and completely unique. I now offer a variety of machine embroidery patterns as well, which makes the silk fusion pop even more!

The body of the bags is cork, imported through a Canadian company called MM Cork Supply located right here in B.C.

I also utilize various other mediums like acrylic and resin pours to create unique and beautiful art pieces that add a statement to whatever room they go in.

My stock is constantly evolving and changing, and while I often have bags and art pieces in stock, I would love to design and make something just for

Slate Jewelery

What is Slate Jewelry?

It is a balance between refined and bold. Introvert and extrovert. Beauty and imperfection.  Christine handcrafts metalwork pieces of wearable art that strike a balance between classic minimalism and luxurious details. Outside of the usual jewelry categories of “fine” or “fashion,” Christine’s work stands on its own, giving voice to her organic “modern relic” design style. Influenced by movement and texture, history and surrealism, her work blends modern lines with a sense of found objects.

Christine Rio is a Canadian designer, with over 12 years experience crafting jewelry in her home studio in Victoria, BC.  She is the founder and metalsmith behind her contemporary jewelry brand, Slate Jewelry, officially launched in 2016 at Vancouver Fashion Week.

Bespoke Bodies

I love wearing soft and beautiful lingerie and I want everyone else to have that chance as well. I’ve grown up on the west coast of BC, living in the unceded territories of the Lekwungen Peoples [ADD OTHERS AND CHECK SPELLING/ACCENTS].

I started sewing in middle school and came back to it as a creative outlet after choosing to drop out of university. My favorite thing to make is lingerie, which makes sense because it’s also my favorite thing to wear. I’m queer and a member of my local burlesque community, as well as a frequent attendant at local drag shows. Being around so many people of all genders and bodies (many of them undressing in front of people!) really highlights the differences in fit and style available for varied body types and sizes, and has inspired me to play with design and gender beyond what we see in stores.

I like crafting each piece with my own hands and learning how to manipulate 2D fabric to fit a 3D body. Testing different seams to see how space can be added or removed, or how a line can be cut more feminine or more masculine while still keeping the original idea of a garment has been really fun. I’m so proud of the pieces I’ve worked on with friends to make gender-affirming underwear that fits comfortably and looks great. Bespoke bodies came from the desire to inspire euphoria from the first pieces of clothing you put on
