Life on the West Coast inspires a unique fashion sense, and our fashion designers reflect this lifestyle in every stitch of clothing they create.
Living in harmony with our environment is important to us, and this value is evident in the local trends and designs that are born here. Fashion Splash began in 2014, at the Ship Point Pier in the Inner Harbour of Victoria, an outdoor runway right beside the water.
Initially, there were only a handful of local designers, models and businesses involved, but our event has since grown to become Victoria's Premiere Fashion Event.
Fashion Splash is a community fashion event that continues to grow and celebrate our amazing talent here on Vancouver Island. We believe that we are on the verge of making a name for ourselves on the world stage, featuring some of the most unique and original designs BC has to offer. This show is all about providing designers with a platform and amplifying our incredible fashion industry professionals.
Thank you for your continued support!

Sandra FroherSandra Froher is the owner of Spirit Essence and is an Indigenous Eco Fashion designer who creates made to order couture fashion co- created with Mother Earth on natural fibers.
She spends time walking in local landscape foraging for organic materials to preserve the spirit and essence of plants into cloth, then transforms this into her creations. The first step is to soak the chosen fibers in a mineral bath to then be capable of absorbing the plant colors and stains. Then the cloth is decorated with fresh leaves, flowers, or barks. The natural fibers are then bundled and steamed for hours, during that time a beautiful transformation takes place. Imprints of shadows, leaves and pigments take place creating a stunning botanical imprint to the cloth. Each piece is truly one of a kind, hand made and hand dyed to create a conversation of sustainability in the modern fashion world. Slow fashion is less wasteful and the natural dye process is gentle for our planet. Sandra challenges everyone to invest in more meaningful fashion piece and less purchases. There is something very spiritual wearing nature close to your skin there is a feeling of oneness and healing. Buying from sustainable fashion designers can help forward a powerful message in our throw away fashion world. Less is more.. |
Bat-Fish Studio Bat-Fish Studio is the love child of Tracy Yerrell & was created in response to the global situation of fast fashion & textile waste.
For Tracy, sustainable design has become a way of life, and she loves creating & recreating reclaimed clothing, textiles & materials. She is constantly striving to come up with new & innovative ideas that use unusual textiles & materials in an original & inventive way. She also tries to use no new materials in the making of her products, but rather follow a new way of thinking, turning waste into something beautiful and useful for everyday life. By tapping into more unconventional design aesthetics and embracing the idea that waste can really be a resource, it inspires people to get in touch with their own creativity and how they can make a difference with up-cycling & re-purposing. The possibilities are only as limited as our imaginations. In this 2024 Fashion Splash Show, Tracy decided to work with denim. Denim is one of the largest fractions of textile waste produced in the world today and 2.16 million tons of denim waste is committed to our landfills every year. She wanted to show a small sample of how denim, big or small, old or new, from second stores to the floors of our closets, could make its way back onto the runway as a recreated piece of fashion. From whimsical to elegant this is reclaimed, reimagined, recycled remade denim fashion. |

Alexandra Christie"In my work, I transform vintage and upcycled fabrics into clothing, accessories, and home decor. I draw inspiration from locally sourced materials and textiles from around the world.
My creative process unfolds in the heart of Qualicum Bay, nestled between the serene forest and the vast sea. As a lifelong maker and collector, my true passion lies in the art of resurrection. I find immense joy in taking discarded and unappreciated items and crafting them into something both aesthetically captivating and purposeful." "Each piece I create embodies a distinctive fusion of colors and fabrics, meticulously curated in small, exclusive batches. My designs harmonize modern sensibility with durability and wearability. One defining feature of my creations is the art of handsewn patches, a nod to the rich tapestry of historical craftsmanship. The end result is a collection of one-of-a-kind “folk couture” garments that simultaneously pay homage to the past and ignite inspiration for the future. In this era of critical environmental awareness, my work carries the added significance of reducing our ecological footprint. It is no coincidence that I celebrate the craftsmanship of women in my work. Throughout recorded history, their contributions have been undervalued. Yet it is their craft, wrought from the simplest of materials, that infuses our daily lives with beauty and functionality. My mission is to amplify this often-overlooked legacy, breathing new life into the artistry of women and their enduring creations. My work invites you to reimagine the past, embrace the present, and shape a more sustainable future. Thank you for joining me on this journey of reclamation, empowerment, and the celebration of the beauty in simplicity." |
